Ceredigion council has launched a search for a “competent and experienced commercial partner” to operate Aberaeron harbour.
The council wants to develop the harbour as a “key opportunity” in its economic plan for the county, and is inviting harbour and marina developers and operators to hear about the “significant development potential” at Aberaeron harbour.
“Significant opportunities exist to attract investment into Aberaeron, with a view of developing the harbour into a modern facility and high-quality sailing destination on the west coast of Wales,” the council said.
“Developing and managing the potential of the harbour will require a strong collaborative approach. Ceredigion County Council is therefore holding a market engagement event to identify competent and experienced commercial partners, to shape the vision and the development requirements to realising a commercially viable proposition that benefits the economy of Ceredigion and the Mid Wales region.
“The proposition will be expected to stimulate and realise significant economic potential for the local and regional economies.”
The council said it is “working closely” with partners as part of Growing Mid Wales and with both the UK and Welsh governments to “ensure that viable propositions generating economic growth across the region can be supported”.
A virtual market engagement event on Aberaeron harbour is being held at 2pm on 27 January.
The council said “further engagement events and consultations” for the public will be “considered as the proposal matures over time”.
