STAFF at a Pwllheli-based laundry firm have been assured their positions are safe after their company was bought in a mega deal worth more than £50m.
Afonwen, a laundry firm established in Pwllheli in 1935, has been bought by cleaning chain giant Johnson Service Group, JSG, for £52.6m.
A representative for JSG has confirmed that the move will not lead to any job losses in Pwllheli.
Afonwen, which specialises in bulk laundry contracts for hotels and industry, has bases in Pwllheli, Cardiff and Reading, and employs about 750 people across the UK.
The company was founded in 1935 by William George, the brother of former Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, and currently deals with over 2.5 million items of linen a week every week.
