CARDIGAN Town Centre Partnership has had a ‘Special Recognition’ commendation as part of the GB High Street awards 2016.
The partnership – which includes representatives from town traders, town council, Cardigan Castle, Coleg Ceredigion, Small World Theatre, Menter Aberteifi, Cymdeithas Aberteifi and the county council as well as other local organisations – has launched several initiatives including the loyalty card, town map and Creative Cardigan.
Minister for local growth Andrew Percy MP, who chairs the government’s Future High Street Forum, in a letter to town mayor Cllr Clive Davies said: “We wish to recognise and commend you for the real impact the formation of the Town Centre Partnership has had on the town.
“The partnership’s work has significantly raised the profile of Cardigan as a market town and a shopping destination in its own right with a unique offering of primarily independent traders.”
Mr Percy added: “We were impressed to hear about your innovative approach to in helping support Cardigan high street.”
Cllr Davies said: “I’m very pleased that the efforts of the Cardigan Town Centre Partnership has been given this recognition.
“It shows that with the right representation from different aspects our small market town, much can be achieved."
