A protest will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) against the closure of a factory in Gwynedd.
Northwood Hygiene Products Ltd announced in May that they intend to close the Penygroes manufacturing plant which will lead to the loss of 94 jobs.
The decision was made despite an offer of financial support from the Welsh Government following local negotiations.
Now Unite is calling on the public to join a demonstration tomorrow.
The ‘National Day of Action on “Universal Dis-Credit” and protest against the closure’ starts at 1pm.
People are asked to meet at 12.45pm at the car park opposite the Co-op on Water Street, Penygroes to call ‘for a fairer social security system for all and support the 90 plus workers fighting the closure’.
Organisers say the demonstration will take place under social distancing conditions of 2m and those taking part should bring a mask.
A Unite spokesperson said: “Unite Community have called this demonstration to show our support for the workers of Northwood Hygiene and the community of Penygroes; and to demonstrate our utter contempt for Northwood Hygiene.
"The company has betrayed Penygroes and left 94 families without a livelihood; it’s a massive shock to the community of Penygroes and the company should think again and look to its social responsibility for this community, which has made it profitable for many a long year.”
