A BEDDGELERT businessman is calling for action against speeding cyclists after one of his employees was left with serious injuries after allegedly being knocked down by a rider in the village.
Emlyn Roberts, who runs Hebog Café and Bistro, claims a number of cyclists coming through the village are breaking the speed limit and is calling for more to be done to make them slow down.
On Sunday, 3 April a Hebog employee, who didn’t want to be identified, was in a collision with a cyclist which led to the worker needing hospital treatment and several stitches inside her mouth.
Mr Roberts said: “I feel it’s about time the council looked into how we can prevent further incidents like this from happening.
“There are no pavements in the village so this means that pedestrians have to walk on the road.
“The latest incident involved a member of my staff who was hit by a cyclist, who I believe was doing well over the legal speed limit for the village. My employee had to go to Ysbyty Bodelwyddan as she was suffering from terrible injuries to her mouth.
“It is becoming a serious problem here in Beddgelert, especially at this time of year. I’m not saying it’s all cyclists that are behaving in this way but there is a small minority which won’t slow down and need to respect our village a lot more than they do.”
