FLY-TIPPERS are blighting Cross Inn by dumping items near recycling bins in a layby, a local resident has said.
And that has prompted calls for CCTV to be installed at the site near Llanon to catch the culprits – with one resident insisting that more needs to be done to stop items being dumped.
Items including a computer monitor, chairs and even an old plastic creosote container have been dumped in the layby recently.
One resident, who has asked not to be named, insisted that requiring council workers to come out and collect the rubbish must be costing the authority money.
He said: “Last week rubbish included an old computer monitor. On Tuesday, 14 August, not only were the bottle bins full, but someone at some point in the day dumped some chairs and an old plastic container saying ‘creosote’ which, as far as I know, cannot be used any more as it is carcinogenic.”
The resident added: “The council has someone who empties the bottle bins, but not often enough, and another team takes away the rubbish.
“Neither team sweeps up the glass in front of the bins. Goodness knows how much this is costing.
“There is a sign saying fly-tippers will be fined with a very large fine and that there is CCTV, but everyone knows there isn’t."
