THERE should be a complete overview of all Lampeter’s parking problems, according to one town councillor.

Members have been discussing the introduction of bollards on College Street which Ceredigion County Council has introduced to deter illegal parking and to protect pedestrians.

But Cllr Dinah Mulholland suggested traffic issues in town were more widespread.

“We need some kind of overview of these issues as they affect the town,” she told colleagues. “College Street is what we’re discussing, but this is a wider issue.”

She added that illegal parking caused particular problems for wheelchair-users and parents with pushchairs.

“This kind of thing is pretty common in other towns as well, although that doesn’t mean we should tolerate it,” said town mayor Cllr Hag Harris.

But he expressed hope that talks with Ceredigion County Council officers could lead to some sort of resolution of College Street’s problems.

Cllr Mulholland added: “We really do need to identify options in seeking a solution to these and other parking issues for the sake of local residents and local businesses so that Lampeter’s economy and residents can thrive.”
