CALLS are being made for an urgent meeting to discuss the campaign to bring the UK’s first-ever spaceport to Llanbedr.
Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP Liz Saville Roberts has called for the meeting with the Secretary of State for Wales after news that the Government is expected to raise the matter in this afternoon’s (Wednesday) Queen’s Speech.
The MP has repeatedly championed Llanbedr as the best and safest site to locate the spaceport given that it fulfils the operational criteria for such a development.
Llanbedr is the only candidate site which already has segregated airspace in place; it has a 50-year track record of airspace management and operation.
It is also the only site which fulfils the critical safety considerations required in developing a spaceport.
Mrs Saville Roberts said: “I have requested an urgent meeting with the Secretary of State for Wales to discuss how best to advance Llanbedr’s bid to become the UK’s first-ever spaceport.”
