THREE Cambrian News colleagues are saddling up to ride their bikes through the night to raise money for cancer charities.
Wendy Morris, Michelle Evans and Laura Sherman are taking part in the 104hm Women v Cancer Ride the Night event around the streets of London on Saturday, after an impulse decision.
The trio are raising money for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action and have already raised over £1,500 between them.
Wendy said: “We decided to take part in this charity race a year ago, in an impulsive decision, as a reason to raise money for such needy causes and also to up our fitness level.
“I’m so looking forward to this ride. We will struggle at times I’m sure, but nothing in comparison to the struggle people fighting this disease are going through."
Michelle said the trio had been training hard. She said: “After having done a couple of Moonwalks, which are night-time marathon walks, around London, this was a new challenge. Training is going well, covering 60 to 80 miles a week between spin classes and bike rides after work and at weekends.”
Laura added: “It was an impulsive decision to do it, but we have taken on the challenge and have been training hard.
“We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, how difficult and life-changing it can be, not only for the person, but for the family as a whole.
“Every penny counts.”
