MORE bins are needed along a Machynlleth street in order to combat dog fouling, councillors have warned.
Residents are calling for bins to be installed along Tanrallt Road, according to Cllr Glenda Jenkins, who said Powys County Council had previously committed to providing three replacement bins.
Speaking at a meeting of Machynlleth Town Council, Cllr Jenkins said: “This is a really popular place for people to take dogs walking. Dog fouling comes up all the time when I talk to residents. We have to provide them with bins to put dog mess in.”
Cllr Jenkins added: “I don’t know why it hasn’t been put there because it was promised. Powys County Council did say they would put one there. This was agreed upon many years ago and nothing was done about it.”
But Cllr Michael Williams, who is also county councillor for Machynlleth, said he understood Powys County Council is to carry out a survey of all the bins it services throughout the county, which might delay or even rule out new bins for the street.
