WITH Wales having qualified for this summer’s Euro 2016 finals in France, Rondo Media have been commissioned by S4C to produce a special documentary which plays tribute to the forgotten heroes in red who reached the last eight of the European Championships 40 years ago in 1976.

Combining personal player and supporter interviews with archive material from the mid-’70s and match footage, the programme will be aired at the end of May as the whole nation gears up for a French adventure.

Recently, Rondo Media brought together three good friends – Gwilym Price, Glyn Crampton from Tanygrisiau, near Blaenau Ffestiniog, and John Llewelyn Jones from Pwllheli – who had travelled beyond the Iron Curtain to watch their heroes facing the might of Yugoslavia in Zagreb in April 1976 in order to travel down memory lane with the help of photo albums and memorabilia carefully collected and maintained by Gwilym.

All three had plenty to say and many fond and hilarious memories of their adventure to share.

Amidst the collection of photographs was this picture of two young girls who had travelled to Zagreb with their father.

Gwilym, who took the photo, believed that they hailed from the Aberystwyth area.

Rondo Media are looking for any information about these (now grown) women in the photo, and would love to hear from them in order to hear about their childhood memories from that particular trip.

If anyone has any information about the identity and whereabouts of these women, please contact Timewatch by e-mailing [email protected].
