Council car park charges have been reintroduced in Cardigan from today, after a short reprieve due to the high number of Covid cases in the area.
Ceredigion County Council brought in cashless parking payments for its car parks in Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Lampeter, New Quay, Tregaron and Llandysul on 1 December.
Cardigan’s car parks were initially included in this list, but this was changed because of the Covid outbreak in the area, and the reintroduction of the town’s safe zone.
But from today, cashless charging is being introduced at the following county council pay and display car parks in Cardigan: Bath House, Greenfield Square, Mwldan and Quay Street (pictured).
No charge will be introduced at this time in Gloster Row, the council said.
And while the mobile Covid testing centre remains in Fairfield, this car park will remain unavailable for general use.
A spokesperson said: "As the level of Covid-19 infection rates reduces substantially in Cardigan it is now appropriate to introduce cashless charging there as has already been the case elsewhere in Ceredigion."
Free parking will be provided on two Saturdays, 12 and 19 December, at all council pay and display car parks in the run-up to Christmas.
