Village improvement society

GARY chaired the AGM on 4 February, with just five members of the local community (three from the same family) in attendance.Given the time and effort that the three remaining full committee members had put into appeals for support in the local press, house-to-house flyers and social media before the AGM, this response was extremely disappointing. The committee has now run out of ideas on how to get the community involved and join the hall committee. Committee members for 2016 are chair, Gary Thorogood (unchanged); secretary, Chris Lambert (unchanged); minutes secretary, Vole (deputy Richard Williams); community garden rep, Rose Yorke; website, Jane Burtenshaw Jones (unchanged); health and safety rep, Gary Thorogood (unchanged); WI reps, Maggie Hughes and Wendy Davies. No-one from the community council is attend-ing meetings at the moment. Someone has expressed interest in being treasurer, but was unable to attend the AGM.Gary’s comprehensive chairman’s report detailed the highs and lows of 2015. The 2015 accounts are yet to be audited but finances are healthy.Chris and Amanda stepped in to keep things ticking over.Gary thanked Amanda for all her hard work as minutes secretary over the last five years and for agreeing to continue running film nights for a little longer until someone else steps forward. It was decided to revert to a 7.30pm start for meetings. The next meeting is on Thursday, 3 March.
