Madam,

This issue raises many points which are not adequately addressed by a mere apology from council officials.

Whilst accepting that councils should be open, honest and transparent, public bodies also have a legal obligation to ensure confidential and personal material is kept safe.

Your article suggests that this is not the first time that this has happened and that the council had a man arrested. If this is the case then we deserve a full explanation from the county council and not just a humble apology.

This is a disgraceful state of affairs that one might expect of other countries but not in an open, honest and transparent democracy.

Ceredigion County Council has let the public down.

Yours etc,

Hugh R M Hughes, Borth.
