Ceredigion pupils celebrate A level success

Students across Ceredigion are picking their results this morning, with a third of all results being in the top bracket.

98% of entries for WJEC examinations were graded A*-E; 80% achieved A*-C grades; 57% were graded A*-B and 32% of the entries achieved the top ‘A-A*’ grades.

Schools across the county have congratulated learners on their dedication, hard work and perseverance over the last two years, with many now progressing to higher education, apprenticeships, further training or employment.

Headteacher at Ysgol Penweddig, Clive Williams, said: "Once again this year Penweddig is celebrating particularly good A level and AS results.

"Nearly all of the Year 13 pupils have secured a place in their choice of University.

"The rest of the pupils have successfully applied for an apprenticeship, will be entering the world of work or travelling.

"We are very proud of the successes of all our pupils which is a reflection of their commendable efforts throughout their studies. We would like to thank all the staff, parents / guardians and the governors for their hard work supporting our pupils academically and in terms of their well-being."

Cllr Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion Cabinet Member for Schools and Lifelong Learning, said: “This year's results reflect the dedication and resilience of our young people, together with the outstanding support provided by our schools, families and communities. I would like to congratulate all learners on their achievements and wish them every success as they take the next steps in their education, training or careers.”

Elen James, Corporate Director for Through Age Wellbeing, said: “Once again this year, I would like to express how proud I am of the achievements of all Ceredigion learners as they receive excellent A Level, Vocational Courses and AS Level results. It is wonderful to see such positive outcomes, which are a reflection of their hard work and commitment throughout the year.

"I would also like to thank all teachers and school staff for their support and dedication in preparing learners so thoroughly. My thanks also go to the learners themselves for all their hard work, and to their families and carers for their continued encouragement and support.

"We wish every learner the very best as they embark on the next exciting stage of their lives, whether that be studying for a degree at university, undertaking an apprenticeship, attending further education college or entering the world of work.”
