Ceredigion County Council has commissioned a Saturday bus service between Lampeter and Aberystwyth following a lack of commercial interest in running the 585 service at weekends.
The council has commissioned a minibus to maintain links between communities and provide access to key destinations including Lampeter, Tregaron and Aberystwyth.
The service will help residents access employment, education, shopping, healthcare and leisure opportunities, while supporting those who rely on public transport to travel throughout the county.
Councillor Shelley Childs, Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services, said: “Public transport plays a vital role in helping people access work, education, services and social opportunities.
“We are pleased to be introducing this new Saturday service, ensuring that communities along the 585 route remain connected and have access to key destinations across the county.
“This is a positive example of how the council is working creatively with local providers to safeguard important transport links for our rural communities.”
