LLANRHYSTUD cake company owner Alana Spencer has become Lord Sugar’s next business partner after winning this year’s season of The Apprentice.

Alana, who is from Llanrhystud but understood to be living in Aberystwyth, beat rival Courtney Wood in the final of the BBC One prime time show, winning a £250,000 investment and a 50/50 business partnership with Lord Sugar.

In a tense boardroom showdown, Lord Sugar said he went with his “gut feeling” to choose the winner of the 12th series of the hit reality TV show.

After final pleas from the pair, he said: “It’s a tough one, but I’ve got to make a decision, and go with my gut feeling.

“So, Alana, you’re going to be my business partner.”

Alana, who started her business making and selling cakes when she was 17, was not considered a favourite during the early episodes of the series, but claimed she grew in confidence the longer the process went on.

On Rhod Gilbert’s The Apprentice: You’re Fired show afterwards Alana’s dad James said he would be glad to get his kitchen back to normal.
