An appeal to find out more about an envelope of photographs found in charity shop handbag caught the eye of a reader living in Bangor.

Kate Lacey’s friend bought a bag in a charity shop in Pwllheli and when she got it home she found the envelope of images inside.

“She passed them to me to see if anyone recognises them and would like them back,” said Kate, who is a member of a Facebook group called Old pictures of Pwllheli.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, Kate said the photographs had received a good response online, but she would like to hear from their owner, if possible.

“I love old photos and think it’s sad when you don’t know the names or stories behind them.”

But one reader recognised a familiar face and got in touch with Timewatch to explain.

“One picture has my late mother and other members of my family on it. I am really interested in these photos,” said Alwena Tomos. “I am willing to pay for them or give a donation to the charity from which the bag was purchased.”

Delighted to hear about Alwena, Kate has promised to pass the pictures on to her.
