A charity walker has completed his time in “stunning”, “unbelievable” north Wales.
Brian Burnie, 75, is walking around the entire UK coastline to raise money for his charity, Daft as a Brush, which provides free transport for cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
Despite having Parkinson’s, Brian is completing the walk with the support of his wife, Cheryl, who is travelling with him in a bus.
Brian said: “Without Cheryl I couldn’t do the walk. It’s a team effort, without the team it wouldn’t work.”
Brian described his time in north Wales as “unbelievable”.
Whilst here he visited Portmeirion, spoke with two members of staff at Natural Resources Wales who maintain the footpath he is walking.
Meurig Jones, locations manager for Portmeirion, invited Daft as a Brush to visit and Brian and Cheryl received a personal tour of the famous village.
“When we came into the village, it was absolutely unbelievable. They had the red carpet rolled out for us,” Brian said.
Portmeirion also provided three family tickets for a fundraising raffle for Daft as a Brush.
Brian also met with Quentin Grimley, Countryside Council for Wales, and Gruff Owen, the Wales Coastal Path officer for the north, from Natural Resources Wales.
Brian told the Cambrian News: “Wales is really in a league of its own, the signage is brilliant. Natural Resources Wales, which created the footpath, have done a super job.”
