A Blaenau Ffestiniog charity is trying to raise money to buy a minibus for the community.
Grandma’s Attic, which launched in February 2018, wants to buy a minibus to help those who need help to access healthcare appointments or social activities.
Grandma’s Attic is a small team of volunteers who average 85 hours of unpaid voluntary work a week. They are trying to reach a target of £5,000.
So far they have raised £1,076 through various activities including a raffle, autumn fair and through the Grandma’s Attic shop on the High Street in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Sam Mountford-Tilley, one of the trustees of Grandma’s Attic, said: “We have identified a real need for our community to access medical appointments by using the minibus.
“It will also be available to alleviate isolation by transporting people who are unable to walk very far to social activities in our area.”
Sam added: “We’re hoping to plan a sponsored Boxing Day dip with any donations from that going towards our goal.”
The group would like to buy the minibus before a special event they have planned next year.
She said: “On 1 March, we’re hoping to set a Guinness World Record for the most people stood on a rugby pitch wearing a Welsh shirt. We’re very excited for this.
“The rugby club have said they will get involved. It will be 50p for children and £1 for adults to take part.
“There will also be local bands and Welsh choirs. We really want to get the word out.”
