A TRAUMATISED train driver has been left “sick to his stomach with fright” after witnessing children playing ‘chicken’ on the track between Pwllheli and Porthmadog.

The Arriva Trains Wales driver has put out a heartfelt plea to people not risk their lives.

The driver also claimed that miscreants have been throwing rocks at his train as it passed in incidents near Criccieth.

The driver, who lives and works on the Llyn Peninsula but wishes to remain anonymous, is urging everyone to consider the consequences of their actions.

He said: “This goes out to any children and/or the parents of any children.

“Tonight for the second time in as many weeks children playing chicken in front of my train have almost been killed! It makes me sick to my stomach with fright.

“Tonight they also threw stones at the train as well as running across the track.

“It doesn’t take much imagination to realise the severity of it. Eighty-plus tons travelling at 55mph colliding with a child...”

He added: “If you know who’s doing this then please have a word! If it’s you please have more respect and think of all the consequences for your actions.”
