OWNERS from The Warren Resort and Spa in Abersoch have been cleaning the beach of marine litter.
A beach-clean took place at the Warren beach in collaboration with Pen Llyn a’r Sarnau Special Area of Conservation which is coordinated by Gwynedd Council.
Owners relations manager at the Warren, Louisa Paice said: “It was great opportunity to do something about the issue which has been highlighted recently in the media as we are so passionate about our beach.
“It was a fantastic event which brought a real sense of community and the children learnt lots about the special area of conservation and why it’s so important to look after it.”
Children and adults of all ages joined to collect a mixture of litter being left on the beach, and litter brought in by the tide. Numerous bags of litter were then disposed of by the park.
Catrin Glyn, from the Pen Llyn ar Sarnau Special Area of Conservation, said: “Working to tackle marine litter is really important for wildlife conservation.
“But it is equally important that beaches are clean for local residents and holidaymakers, who enjoy our spectacular coastline and beaches with all the health and economic benefits of being active outdoors.”
The Pen Llyn a’r Sarnau Special Area of Conservation works with partners to manage and improve the resilience of the site. It is also tasked with improving everyone’s understanding of the marine environment.
