Madam,

Re the letter in the Cambrian News of 22 September, ‘Golf club members should consider where their loyalty lies’, where the unidentified correspondent questions the loyalty of the members of Machynlleth Golf Club.

The matter of a travellers’ site came to us “out of the blue” in a communication from Powys County Council in which they said this had been chosen as the most suitable site in the area for travellers – as designated by the Welsh Government.

We were invited to co-operate in the sale of the land and threatened with compulsory purchase if we did not comply.

Therefore it is not our fault and the question of loyalty does not come into it!
