A FOUR-FIGURE sum has been raised for a Meirionnydd hospital following a successful concert by an award-winning male voice choir.
Following the fund-raiser with the Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir at St Mary’s Church, a cheque for £1225.40 has been presented to Linda Morgan, chair of the Dolgellau Hospital’s League of Friends.
Gwynedd councillor Linda Morgan, speaking on behalf of the league of friends, said: “I would like to thank conductor John Eifion, accompanist Elizabeth Ellis and the choir for an excellent and enjoyable evening.
“The choir was in terrific form and gave a superb performance.
“Thanks also to Iwan Parry and Rhianwen Pugh who made excellent contributions on the evening.”
The money raised will go towards new equipment for the hospital as well as care packages for patients, in a bid to make their stay more comfortable.
Cllr Morgan added: “May I also take this opportunity to congratulate the Brythoniaid Choir who won the main male voice choir competition at the National Eisteddfod beating seven other choirs in the process. Huge congratulations to John Eifion, Liz Ellis and all the choir.
“Also credit must go to Iwan Parry and Côr Bro Meirion who also came first in the Eisteddfod, it’s brilliant news for the area.”
