ON WEDNESDAY, 25 November, Merched Bro’r Mwyn met up with Phil Thomas, ambassador for Ty Hafan to present a cheque to Ty Hafan. Phil told the choir about the hard work that goes on at the hospices and how happy the children are when they are there.

Merched Bro’r Mwyn are a newly formed ladies choir who performed at their first venue, Cwmystwyth Eisteddfod, in September.

Joanna Morgan of Cwmystwyth was close to the late Dr Meredydd Evans, Afallon, who was ‘llywydd anrhydedus’ for the eisteddfod, but unfortunately died before it took place. Mered played a huge part in organising the event before his death.

The choir sang Hafan Gobaith beautifully on the day and scooped second prize, winning £100. The ladies decided to donate this to Ty Hafan, given the song they sang was written for Ty Gobaith House, recorded by the world famous singer, Bryn Terfel as part of a fund-raising campaign. The ladies have decided that they will carry on as a choir aiming to perform locally and compete in eisteddfods.
