AN UP-AND-COMING band featuring a former Penglais school pupil have released a single promoting an anti-knife crime campaign.

Following the release of their debut single Recovery earlier this year, Led by Lanterns, the Birmingham-based band which features Chris Evans, the former lead singer of the popular Aberystwyth band My Favourite Runner Up, has released a new single called Save a Life.

The single has been released in support of the Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife campaign, which aims to reduce the number of knives on the UK’s streets by providing anonymous knife amnesty boxes for people to surrender their blades with no fear of prosecution.

“We had no idea that knife crime in the UK was this horrific,” Chris told the Cambrian News.

“There is a knife attack every four minutes in the UK alone."

Save a Life is a lot more than just a song. We really hope that it will make a difference. If just one person reconsiders carrying a knife after hearing the song or seeing the music video, then we would feel like we’ve achieved something.”
