A SERVICE will take place in Criccieth this weekend aimed at encouraging support for the LGBTI+ community.
Following the Bishop of Bangor’s inauguration of the LGBTI+ Chaplaincy for Bangor Diocese at St Mary’s Menai Bridge last May, there have been services both in Menai Bridge and Criccieth.
The Chaplaincy Team is made up of gay and straight women and men.
Father Dominic who leads the team says: “The Bishop asked us to make sure everyone was welcome in our Church.
“We call a service an Open Table and we want to reach out to the many people whom the Church has historically excluded from its buildings, services and love.”
The Rev Sara Roberts another member of the team who is a curate in Bro Enlli, said: “we are in an age where human sexuality is not seen as a lifestyle choice but an expression of God’s image.
“The church feels a responsibility to ask for forgiveness and open its arms to those it may have hurt and excluded in the past.”
These services are open to all those who wish to support this initiative regardless of their own sexual orientation.
There is usually a bilingual Holy Eucharist followed by refreshments.
The next Service will take place at St Catherine’s Church, Criccieth on Sunday, 29 April, at 5pm followed by a simple supper and a time to share life stories and a time of fellowship.
An invitation is extended to all who would like to attend.
