Circus and charity collided in Llanbedrog on Sunday, 9 June, as families enjoyed a circus skills workshop at Plas Glyn y Weddw arts centre, to raise money for charity Anno’s Africa.
Attendees enjoyed various colourful circus activities, such as juggling and stilt walkers, and were treated to a performance of ‘A Little Bird Told Me’ by Cimera Youth Circus and Friends at the venue.
Entry to the workshop was free, but donations were collected from guests for Anno’s Africa.
The charity offers underprivileged children in Malawi and other areas of Africa the opportunity to receive an alternative arts education, covering the disciplines of art, creative writing, dance, drama, music and circus skills. Regular workshops and clubs in these subjects are offered to children in Africa with the intention of bettering their skills and life chances and providing them with a well-rounded educational experience.
Bee Gilbert, who organised the event and lives in Nefyn, is the charity’s director, and is responsible for the running of workshops and gathering of funding for the Anno’s Africa project across the UK.
