MORE than £800 will be shared between three causes after almost 40 cars turned out for an inaugural classic car run near Aberystwyth.
Organisers of the car run, which started and finished at Y Ffarmers, in Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn, on Saturday, 30 September, are optimistic the event will go ahead again next year after “really positive” feedback from participants.
A total of 37 classic cars took part, including several mark two Ford Escorts, a Mercury Monterey, a Porsche, an Austin Mini, an old Land Rover, and a Ford Capri.
Defying bleak conditions, drivers and attendees helped raise more than £800, which will be shared between the Wales Air Ambulance, and the local school and church.
Caitlin Morse, who is landlady at Y Ffarmers and organised the event with her friend Mary Williams, said she was “delighted” with how it went and thanked everyone for their support.
“The feedback we received has been really positive and we have had lots of requests to make it an annual event,” Caitlin told the Cambrian News.
“We are delighted that it was such a success and are excited that there is a demand to run it again next year.
“Mary and myself would like to thank everyone for their generous donations, and in particular for their help and support, giving up their time on a very wet Welsh day to make the event such a success.”
The car run took the following route: Llanilar, Llanddeiniol, Llanrhsytud, Trefenter, Bronant, Lledrod, Swyddfynnon, Ystrad Meurig, Ysbyty Ystwyth, Pontrhydygroes, Cwmystwyth, Pontarfynach, Ystumtuen, Goginan, Capel Bangor, Cwm Rheidol, Aberffrwd, Llanfihangel down Banc Alltfedw.
Not everyone was taking part in the car run, and those without a ride in a classic car were able to enjoy food and drink at Y Ffarmers.
