A MEIRIONNYDD band are releasing a Christmas single which relates to a true story about one band member who came face to face with a huge otter.

Punk oldies Ceffylau Lliwgar are releasing ‘Dyfrgi Dolig’ in time for Christmas which is also a protest song about the commercialisation of Christmas.

Speaking about the new song, band member, Dafydd Rhys, of Dolgellau, said: “The simple and amazing things around us are what I truly treasure.

“I don’t know whether it was the otter or myself who had the biggest shock when we came face to face late at night that Christmas Eve!”

The song was recorded by Gwyn Maffia Jones at his mobile studio at Caban Cader Idris last month.
