A bingo night in Barmouth has raised over £800 for Josh’s Lighthouse Project.

The evening was organised by members of Barmouth Community Club with the support of youth support worker Nia Rees, staff from Byw’n Iach, community club volunteer Rhona Lewis and youth worker Lisa Williams.

The aim of the evening was to raise money for a local good cause, as well as complete an Agored Cymru accreditation in teamwork.

Everybody had great fun on the night with 130 people attending and a total of £835 raised.

Porthamdog-based PCSO Mark Hughes was invited to attend as bingo caller and the prizes were provided through the generosity of over 30 local businesses.

Josh’s Lighthouse Project is a non-profit organisation set up in memory of Joshua Llwyd-Hopcroft.

In March 2017, Joshua, 18, took his own life in fields close to his family home in Llanfair, near Harlech.

Josh’s Lighthouse Project was set up by his parents, Sue and Dion, to raise awareness of self-harm and suicide among young people, and Josh’s family attended the bingo night to support the event.

Barclays Bank will also donate an equivalent amount to the Gwynedd and Anglesey Mind charity, which promotes better mental health and wellbeing for all.
