STAFF members from Co-operative stores in Dolgellau and Machynlleth helped raise more than £10,000 after completing a 353-mile international bike ride.

Chris Sutton and Steve Rye from the Dolgellau store and Adrian Hedgley from the Machynlleth supermarket were part of a team that took part in the London-to-Paris challenge.

The team - which also featured Matt Lee, Steve Fenn, Clwyd Davies and John Jones from stores in Oswestry and Coedpoeth - took only 26 hours to travel 350 miles.

The cyclists arrived in Paris at 6pm Saturday night, just in time to enjoy the final stage of the Tour de France.

The money raised will go to the British Red Cross, the Co-operative’s charity of the year, an organisation which helps to tackle loneliness and social isolation in the UK.
