The work of the National Coastwatch Institution at Porthdinllaen has been boosted by more than £3,000, thanks to generous donations by Watchkeeper Christine Harris.
The money was raised through charitable events organised while Christine was Ladies Captain of Nefyn Golf Club, and from donations for a 100-mile walking challenge completed by Christine and her friend Julia. The ladies can be seen here (left) crossing the finish line.
Christine, accompanied by Nefyn Golf Club’s Mens Captain Graham Reynolds, handed over a cheque for £3,249 to NCI Porthdinllaen’s treasurer, fund raising officer and station manager.
The funds will be used to allow the station to continue as part of The National Search and Rescue Organisation assisting, when required, the coastguard and RNLI.
Porthdinllaen welcomes anyone interested in becoming a Watchkeeper. Visit www.nci.org.uk/porthdinllaen or the station’s Facebook page.
