A Tywyn woman has urged people to come along to an event in the town to find out more about how having a guide dog can change lives.

Liz Mowatt, from Tywyn, is the owner of six-year-old guide dog Angie, a yellow Labrador Retriever.

“I never used a white cane and I struggled to get about,” Liz said.

“I did not have much independence and had to rely on other people to go out. Now, I don’t have to rely on anyone. Angie gives me the confidence to get out and do things for myself. I think she knows all the shops in Tywyn and Aberystwyth by heart.”

Liz will be one the guide dog owners on hand at a coffee morning event for the Guide Dogs charity in Tywyn on Tuesday, 6 August to thank existing volunteers and welcome new supporters.

The event will take place at Neuadd Pendre Social Centre from 11am to 12.30pm.

Entry is free.
