DWYFOR and Meirionnydd residents have been invited to volunteer and make a difference for their local community.

Plaid Cymru MP Liz Saville Roberts will host a coffee morning in Dolgellau alongside the Red Cross and the Royal Voluntary Service to bolster volunteer numbers across Meirionnydd. The event will also be attended by north Wales Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Griffith.

The aim of the event is to help both organisations retain and attract new volunteers to support their charitable work across Meirionnydd as part of the Camau Cadarn/Positive Steps campaign.

Mrs Saville Roberts said: “The Red Cross and RVS would love to hear from you, whether you can spare an hour a day, a day a week, a couple of hours a month or the occasional helping hand at an event near you.

“I’m pleased to support this event and I hope we succeed in attracting new volunteers from across Meirionnydd to support the excellent work being carried out by both organisations.”

Positive Steps Independent Living Operations Manager David Worrall added: “Camau Cadarn Positive Steps is a wonderful service where we support people in the local community to regain and maintain their independence through set goals. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers are making a difference to people’s lives every day. In order to continue support we are looking for new people to join our volunteering team in the Meirionnydd area.

“All we ask is for a couple of hours a week so we can support more people in the area.”

The event will take place on Friday, 2 November, at Ty Siamas, Dolgellau between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
