AROUND 6,000 people are expected to descend on Machynlleth at the end of this month for the annual comedy festival.

Scottish Gaelic used instead of Welsh signage in mid Wales Co-opThe largest comedy festival in Wales, it will again bring a big economic boost to the town on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend (29 April - 1 May). Now in its seventh year, stand-up stars including Sarah Millican, Josh Widdicombe, Stewart Lee, Isy Suttie and Arthur Smith will perform at venues throughout the town.
Festival director Henry Widdicombe said: “The festival is a real cauldron of creativity, with over 160 performances all taking place within the town of Machynlleth across one weekend.
“This year we have been delighted to see ticket sales coming in from a number of European countries – even as far afield as the USA!”
