CAVO recently partnered with Jobcentre Plus, Penparcau Hub and HAHAV to deliver a series of What's On Your Doorstep community events in Victoria Hall, Lampeter and Penparcau Hub.

The aim of the events was to help people discover the wide range of volunteering opportunities, groups and support available within their communities, while also creating opportunities for residents to meet their neighbours and build local connections.

Bringing organisations together under one roof, the events attracted over 300 attendees across both locations.

Residents were able to find out about community groups, access advice and support services, and explore ways to get more involved in their communities through volunteering and social activities.

A local resident said, “It was great to see so many organisations in one place. I found out about support and groups I didn't know existed. It was great to get the opportunity to socialise with people and a chance to make meaningful connections. It was a really good way to find out more about what’s available in the community.”

There was something for everyone to enjoy, including free food, craft activities, games, a treasure hunt, a sushi workshop and a healthy cooking demonstration where attendees were able to take home ingredients and recipe to re-create the dish at home. The events also provided valuable time and space for residents to socialise, meet new people and strengthen community connections.

The What's On Your Doorstep events reflect CAVO's ongoing commitment to supporting thriving communities across Ceredigion by connecting people with opportunities, encouraging volunteering and helping residents access the support they need close to home.

Working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, Penparcau Community Hub and HAHAV made it possible to develop events that were rooted in local communities, bringing together organisations, services and opportunities that were most relevant to residents and helping to strengthen local connections.

CAVO Chief Executive Hazel Lloyd Lubran said: "These events are all about helping people discover what's available locally.
