A Penparcau man caught driving while almost three times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for two years.

Michael Jones, of 26 Cae Job, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 19 August.

The court heard that the 61-year-old was stopped while driving on Cae Job on 21 July this year.

Tests showed that Jones had 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates disqualified Jones from driving for 24 months and handed him a community order to include 80 hours of unpaid work and up to five days of rehabilitation activities.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85 as well as a surcharge to fund victim services of £114.
