Following a closely run competition, CERED is pleased to announce that the winner of the Ceredigion round of Brwydr y Bwgan Brain (Battle of the Scarecrows) is Yr Hwb Community Group, Penparcau.

Their winning scarecrow beat close competition from other individuals and groups across Ceredigion with competitors submitting their Wales-themed creations to CERED over the last few weeks.

Each competitor’s effort was given careful consideration by the guest adjudicator, former Fferm Ffactor winner Aled Rees.

The Hwb’s scarecrow will now go on to compete in the national round of Brwydr y Bwgan Brain.

Karen Rees, The Hwb’s manager, said: “This is excellent news, we are so glad that we supported CERED and took part in the competition. Onwards now to the national round!”

Non Davies, CERED manager, said: “It’s been great to see everyone’s scarecrows – people have evidently had fun creating their masterpieces. At a time when more of us are spending time in the outdoors the scarecrows have not only given us something to smile about and promoted Wales but they’ve also been extremely useful to all keen gardeners!”
