School reunion
FORMER pupils of Aberaeron County School during the Second World War, between 1939 and 1945, gathered at The Hive on the Quay for lunch, together with their spouses, to reminisce about their years at the school.
Most lived locally, three were former evacuees who had been looked after by close family members while they were at the school, and had travelled from Derbyshire, Surry and Buckinghamshire to be present.
The gathering was organised by John Price, formerly of New Quay, now living in Aberystwyth, ably assisted by his daughter, Elin.
After an enjoyable lunch, during which conversations flowed freely, Glenys Pashley, nee Ball, spoke briefly of her memories of her time at the school, during which she found the ability to write poetry and enlightened those present with a couple of examples.
As on previous reunions, in view of the gathering age of those present, the question was raised whether such reunions should be continued, the general consensus of those present was that a 30th reunion should be attempted, and John Price agreed to carry on his role in 2019 to facilitate that.
As on previous occasions, Gaudiamus, the school song, had been sung. The gathering closed with the singing of Calon Lân.

WI
IN recent weeks members have visited two places of interest, the first being the Woollen Museum at Drefach Felindre and then the Archives of Ceredigion County Council in Aberystwyth.
At both venues members appreciated the knowledge and presentations by staff members which evoked memories and a happy time was had by all.
They will be back in the British Legion Hall for their next meeting on Wednesday, 4 July, when the guest speaker will tell them about her life in the Royal Ballet.
Aeron Valley Railway Society
THE meeting of the society was held on 16 May and was attended by nearly 20 members.

It looked as if the sun shone more often back then!
