Bridge club
CLEAR winners on 9 August, were John Valentine and Mike Jones, with George Kinchington and Gwenda Davies second and the Gill Howells and Keith Bellamy third.
On board 17, East, with only a singleton in the Diamond suit but only four rather than the recommended six points, bid his Spade suit rather than leaving partner in his opening bid of 1 Diamond. With 19 points, opener jumped to 3 No Trumps which made. Other pairs remained in 1 Diamond.
Only one declarer made 3 No Trumps on Board 28 with three other pairs only making eight tricks.
Aberaeron Bridge Club meets in the Royal British Legion Hall each Thursday at 6.40pm prompt.
