THE latest community news from Aberaeron

Bridge Club

Winners on 11 October were Keith Bellamy and Dai Hayes, with Herbie Rowley and Nigel Symons Jones second and Dawn Claxton and Sally Davies third.

In one set of four boards, Keith and Dai earned maximum matchpoints on each board, the bridge equivalent of a ‘hat-trick’ in cricket!

Afternoon tuition for beginners and improvers continues on 1pm on Wednesdays in the Royal British Legion Hall. The subject of this week’s session for improvers is going to be the Gambling Three No Trumps, an exciting opening bid that unfortunately does not come up all that often. We will investigate the options through bidding and playing illustrative hands.

Aberaeron Bridge Club meets in the Royal British Legion Hall each Thursday at 6.40pm prompt – newcomers are eagerly welcomed. For further information on Wednesday or Thursday bridge, please phone the club secretary on 01239 811718.
