WI
ABERAERON WI recently met at the British Legion Hall to enjoy a talk and presentation by Sara Redman of The Flower Meadow.
Sara gave a slideshow and a humorous talk about how she began living her dream and growing flowers for a living, turning some land in Penrhiwpal into a boutique flower farm.
She grows all of her flowers organically, has taken part in the Chelsea Flower Show and the Cardiff Flower Show.
She brought some gorgeous bouquets of seasonal flowers with her.
Sara’s flower meadow farm has an open day on 17 August which many of the ladies were interested in.
The VIP tea ladies on the night were Iris Jones and Carole Lovell, and Liz Owen won the raffle.
Next month’s meeting will be the annual treasure hunt.
Bridge club
THE winners of this month’s round of the Barclays Cup on 5 July were Valerie Wylie and Virginia Willey, with Keith Bellamy and Gill Howells second and John Valentine and Mike Jones third.
Two pairs bid the 6 Spades slam on board 9, with a void in clubs ruling out 6 No Trumps.
After the Wednesday afternoon tuition for beginners and improvers on 10 July, there will be a break for the summer.
The sessions will start again on 4 September.
Aberaeron Bridge Club continues to meet in the Royal British Legion Hall each Thursday at 6.40pm.
