WI

NEWLY elected president, Neris Lloyd, welcomed everyone and gave news of the programme arranged for 2017. She also gave out positions of the new committee.

The newsletter was read out and any business matters noted, before refreshments were served by Sylvia, Gloria and Karolyn.

This was followed by teams of four taking part in a Beetle Drive, with Linda Badham as MC. There was much hilarity as players moved from one table to the next. The overall winner was Eleanor Evans.

The vote of thanks by Neris was warmly endorsed by everyone in an enjoyable and fun evening.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, 4 January, when the Boots pharmacist will talk about the role in the community.

Carols evening

THE annual Christmas carols evening will be held at the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, 14 December, at 7.30pm.

The festive singing will once again be accompanied by Aberystwyth Brass Ensemble, conducted by Alan Phillips, and this year we welcome Coral Aberaeron Chorale, conducted by Kate Price.

There will also be readings, stories and musical items, as well as the opportunity to win festive goods. A licensed bar will also be open, and mulled wine and mince pies will also be served. Tickets cost £2.50 and are available from the Box Office.

At 6.30pm on the same evening, a Christmas Fair will be held at the hall run by the Friends of the Hall. This is an excellent opportunity to buy Christmas fare, cards and gifts.
