Memorama
IT was an absolute joy to perform the recent production of The Vicar of Dibley in front of three packed houses at the Memorial Hall on 12 to 14 January.
There was much hilarity and laughter as the enthusiastic crowds marvelled at the portrayals of the core characters, with crafted performances by Ffion Lewis Jones as Geraldine, Aisling Staite as Alice, David Willis and Rhys Davies as David and Hugo Horton, Phil Gerken as Jim, Ed Brown as Frank, Rowena Jones as Letitia and Steve Grossman as Owen. There were also many other cameo parts by other members of the company.
The directors of the three acts, Christine Leonard, Nigel Wells and Rowena Jones, as well as overall creative director Robert Brierley can be extremely proud of the overall production.
The composite set including the church, Parish Hall, David’s sitting room and the vicarage added to the visual experience, and the technical expertise led by Gareth Brierley was fully evident in the back projection, effective lighting and audio visual elements.
The set realisation and decoration was expertly executed by Debbie Fryar, and costumes led by Gaby Staite and Margaret Walters enhanced the overall look of the production. Newcomers Beth Humphrey and Liam Bunting excelled in their backstage roles as stage manager and deputy stage manager respectively.
The scenes changes were complemented by many musical themes, and the winner of the ‘Guess the Music’ competition was Chris Williams, aided by Sally Price, who receives two tickets for the next production in May.
This will be a murder mystery, and audience members are invited to sharpen their sleuthing skills.
