Cheese and Wine Evening
THE Aberaeron Fund-Raising Committee of Cancer Research UK held the annual cheese and wine evening at Aberaeron Sports Club on Saturday, 7 October.
The entertainment provided by Côr Cardi-Gân filled the room with music and laughter and the contribution of all who took part was greatly enjoyed by all.
Chairman Neris Lloyd, welcomed all to the event and thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of the evening.
Chris Jones originally from Aberaeron - “Chris y Tywydd S4C”, was the evening’s chairman and he was introduced by a former teacher and the Committee’s vice-chairman Lowri Jones.
Chris gave an appropriate address and supported the charity with a generous donation.
As a result of this evening a profit of £1,887.01 was made - a sum which includes the generous donations received.
A further promised donation and a donation from Barclays Bank under the £ for £ scheme is to be added.
Committee members thank all who have contributed and supported this charity through the Aberaeron Branch and extend a warm welcome to the Coffee Morning to be held at Peniel Chapel vestry between 10.30am and noon on Saturday, 4 November, when Christmas cards will be on sale.

Bridge Club
WINNERS this week were Mike Jones and John Valentine.
Judith Graham-Jones and Beryl Warner, who had come up from Pembrokeshire, were second and Sally Davies and Jim Simpson third.
They were also pleased to welcome Wendy Heaton from the Pembroke club playing with Aberaeron’s Lee Collier.
Three pairs bid the slam on board 19 while Judith and Beryl were the only pairs to bid and make the slam on board 26.
Aberaeron Bridge Club meets in the Royal British Legion Hall each Thursday at the earlier time of 6.45pm – newcomers are eagerly welcomed.
The club is intending to start bridge lessons in Aberaeron for beginners and improvers.
