Cylch Cinio
CYNHALIWYD y cyfarfod diwethaf ar nos Wener, 10 Mai, yng Ngwesty Richmond.
Ar ddechrau’r cyfarfod cadarnhaodd y cadeirydd, y Dr Richard Edwards, mai’r Cylch Cinio sy’n cyflwyno’r gadair ar gyfer Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru Ceredigion Tregaron yn Awst 2020.
Sefydlwyd pwyllgor bychan o fewn y cylch i fod yn gyfrifol am gynllunio a sicrhau’r trefniadau priodol.
Penderfynwyd gwahodd un o aelodau’r cylch i wneud y gadair ac mae H Rees Thomas wedi cytuno i ymgymryd â’r gwaith.
Mae Rees yn grefftwr arbennig ac yn gyn-athro gwaith coed yn Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig.
Mae wedi dysgu cenedlaethau o ddisgyblion yr ardal a llawer o’r rheiny bellach yn seiri coed llwyddiannus.
Yn sgîl cyfarfod gyda chynrychiolydd o’r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol dywedwyd eu bod yn hapus iawn gyda’n dewis o saer a chyda’r syniadau creadigol y tu ôl i gynllun y gadair.
Bydd hyn yn cael ei gadarnhau yn swyddogol yn yr hydref mewn cyfarfod o Gyngor yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol.
Y siaradwr gwadd ym mis Mai oedd un o’r beirdd cyfoes mwyaf carismataidd.
Er mai ‘g?r Sir Gâr’ yw Eurig Salisbury, yn enedigol o Langynog ger Caerfyrddin ac yn gyn-ddisgybl yn Ysgol Bro Myrddin, mae wedi wedi hen ymgartrefu yn Aberystwyth a hynny ers dyddiau coleg, ac yma mae’n byw yma gyda’i briod Rhiannon a’u mab Llew.
Mae Ceredigion wedi bod yn fagwrfa ac yn dir ffrwythlon i feirdd ers canrifoedd ac yn ddios mae Eurig ymhlith y mwyaf disglair ohonynt.
Bu’n Gymrawd Ymchwil yn y Ganolfan Uwch Efrydiau Cymreig a Cheltaidd am naw mlynedd gan gyfrannu at dri prosiect arloesol ym maes barddoniaeth yr Oesoedd Canol.
Ers tair blynedd mae e bellach yn darlithio yn yr Adran Astudiaeth Cymraeg a Cheltaidd yn y Brifysgol yn Aberystwyth. Mae’n aelod amlwg o dim Y Glêr ar Talwrn y Beirdd.
Enillodd Gadair Eisteddfod yr Urdd Sir Ddinbych yn 2006 a chafodd ei benodi yn Fardd Plant Cymru 2011 – 2013.
Does dim yn well na chlywed bardd yn darllen ffrwyth ei awen a chawsom glywed enghreifftiau lawer o’i waith, pob un cerdd wedi eu cadw’n drefnus yn ei ffôn symudol. Yn ôl y traddodiad Cymreig mae wedi derbyn sawl comisiwn ac wedi gweithio ar sawl prosiect difyr a gwahanol. Bu’n fardd swyddogol Heddlu Dyfed-Powys y llynedd ar adeg dathlu penblwydd y llu yn 50 oed. Derbyniodd wahoddiad gan yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol i fod yn fardd swyddogol y gwobrau pensaernïol ac ysgrifenodd gerdd i nodi adfer hen felin dd?r yn Nhalgarth, Powys.
Dywed mai ei ysfa, fel llawer artist arall, yw gallu byw ar ei farddoniaeth ond bod y swyddi mae wedi cael eu cyflogi ynddynt y nesaf peth at hynny.
Mae angen bardd i ddiolch i fardd a Phil Davies, Talybont a gafodd y fraint o ddiolch i’r g?r gwadd am ein diddori.
Wrth gyfeirio at allu rhyfeddol Eurig i saernïo geiriau, cawson glywed englyn o waith Phil a ‘sgrifennodd i Eurig wedi noson o ymryson yn Nhalybont un mlynedd ar ddeg yn ôl:
Rho i mi fwng fel hwngco – nid pen ?y
ond pen iâr yn stico
lan, minnau druan am dro
yr af, fel cnaf ‘di cneifio.
Enillydd y raffl oedd Malcolm Davies, Waunfawr.
Bydd y cyfarfod ym Mehefin yn Llety Parc yng nghwmni Ioan Lord, Cwmrheidiol, g?r ifanc sydd wedi ymddiddori yn niwydiant y gweithfeydd mwyn yng Ngheredigion.

LOCAL vet Phil Thomas will be familiar to those who bring their pets to his veterinary practice in Aberystwyth, and to many more through his appearances on the S4C series Y Fets.
But when he spoke to the Aberystwyth Probus Club in April, Phil told them about a different side of his very busy life: his involvement in the current efforts to eradicate TB from Wales, and in the development of a veterinary training facility in Aberystwyth University.
In 2006 many aspects of veterinary care were devolved from London to Cardiff and Prof Christianne Glossop was appointed chief veterinary officer for Wales.
Phil and other vets have worked closely with the CVO on the strategies used to control TB, especially since the huge increase in the numbers of diseased cattle that occurred as a result of the movement of stock following the foot and mouth epidemic.
Particularly notable was the reopening of the veterinary laboratory in Aberystwyth in 2015, through the efforts of a consortium of Welsh veterinary practices.
Phil has also been supportive of the efforts of Aberystwyth University in relation to the training of vets in Wales.
The first students to undertake the Veterinary Bioscience degree graduated in 2018, and much effort is now going into the development of a £4.2m veterinary facility and centre of excellence for innovation in livestock management at Plas Gogerddan.
Given the importance of agriculture to the economy and life of Wales, such developments are vital.
The club’s next talk will be at 11am on Wednesday, 29 May in the Waunfawr Community Hall.
Dr Brian Davies will talk about the life and work of Edward Lhwyd, notable Welsh linguist, antiquary and naturalist.
Everyone is welcome and further details can be obtained from the club secretary by phoning 01970 358095.

Cycle festival
ABERYSTWYTH Cycle Festival will be held from 18 May until 27 May. School children will have the chance to take part in the race from 10am on Saturday morning, 25 May.
This year, Ceredigion Actif have worked closely with the event organisers to offer racing opportunities for children in primary and secondary schools.
This will not only improve their physical skills but also to give them an opportunity to make new friends in a safe and exciting environment.
Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 can register to take part in the Ceredigion Actif sponsored school races at Abercyclefest Website, under the heading ‘School Races’.
There is also an opportunity for Year 7 to 11 pupils to register to take part in the race.
Elen James, the corporate lead officer for lifelong learning and culture, said: “This is the ninth year of the Cyclefest.
“We are pleased to once again work in partnership with the organising committee to run the schools races.”
