Stroke club
ON 22 May, 57 members of the club gathered at the town’s football club for their monthly luncheon and to be followed by the AGM.
Judith and Jean dealt with the raffle tickets and then Audrey collected the meal fees whilst the carvery was being prepared.
A splendid repast, as always at this good club was then partaken.
While waiting for the sweets to be handed round, the raffle took place with lots of interesting prizes to be had.
After tea and coffee were served, the chairlady called all to order and the job of the AGM got underway.
The various members with different positions on the committee spoke of the business of the year, financial, secretarial and social to make the members aware of what had been happening during the last year.
Due to the accountants not having the audit notes ready, the treasurer hopes to have paperwork to hand for the next outing.
A new member has joined the committee and one has resigned.
The club then sorted out the new committee and the chairlady bought the meeting to a close with thanks to the football club for a lovely meal and attentive staff and then it was time to go home.
The next outing is to Aberaeron on 19 June and a reminder about the annual holiday on 8 July to Llandudno.

Branch secretary Paul Hinge, following the normal branch meeting business gave an update on the matters discussed at that Royal Welsh Secretaries meeting held in early May and circulated booklets and information for members to peruse.
The main agenda item was the forthcoming trip to Normandy in July where 19 Aberystwyth branch members and partners will join another 201 Royal Welsh veterans from all over Wales (220 in all) to commemorate the sacrifices made in WW2 by those serving with the antecedent regiments of the Royal Welsh namely the Royal Welch Fusiliers, South Wales Borderers and the Welch Regiment who all participated in their own way in battling through from those Normandy beaches through the Battle for Caen onto the relief of Evrecy which paved the way for the allies to engage in what was to become the bloody battle at the Falaise Gap as the Allied troops fought their way to victory over Nazi Germany. The veterans will also not forget the sacrifices that the civilian population made and alongside wreath-laying at the military memorials the whole contingent will mark those civilian sacrifices by laying wreaths on their memorials. Itineraries were distributed and final instructions given as there is no scheduled meeting until our return from France.
The next meeting will be on 31 July at 8pm in the RNA Club.
