THE annual general meeting was held on 9 November at Canolfan Bro Tegid.

Birthday girls Mari and Kim were congratulated and Cynthia’s special birthday was mentioned.

Meirion was sung and the minutes of the October meeting were read and new members welcomed.

Dates for the diary were emphasised. Attention was drawn to the competition for the evening – a green flower arrangement in a cup – and the minutes were accepted.

The group’s special visitor, Meinir, chairperson of Merioneth WI, was welcomed and her newsletter was read and discussed.

A number of members showed interest in the all Wales AGM to be held in Newtown.

The all important Christmas event will take place in Bala on 9 December costing £2 per person, to include tea/coffee and mince pies.

Various Christmas competitions will be judged. There will be a sales table available in order to raise money to hire a bus for the trip in the summer.

Anne Bufton will be in charge of home economics.

Meinir explained the reason for the Not in My Name, White Ribbon Vigil to take place in St Mary’s Church, Dolgellau, on 24 November at 5pm.

The Christmas party will be held at Bala Golf Club on 13 December.

The AGM for 2017 continued with previous minutes being read and accepted.

The various activities that took place during the year were outlined. These have been previously reported.

The treasurer’s and secretary’s reports were submitted and accepted.

The president’s report for April 2016 stated that in midstream, since Kath Hoyle left the area, Anne Bufton became full secretary and Beryl Roberts became president.

Members decided that this arrangement should continue this year.

The committee was voted in en bloc with one new member, namely Annette Roberts.

To conclude the evening, tea and biscuits were served and teams were formed to take part in a quiz organised by Olwen Jones.
