Defibrillator
THERE is now a public access defibrillator sited outside Bendigedig (pictured above). A defibrillator delivers a dose of electric current, often called a countershock, to the heart and can invaluable when it comes to saving someone’s life.
This is the first of three cabinets to be installed in Barmouth bought through local fund-raising. The defibrillators have been provided by Barmouth First Responders and are accessible to all 24/7 by dialing 999, ambulance control will then issue the code to unlock the cabinet and dispatch help.
Deputy mayor Rob Triggs, who works with the First Responders, said: “This is the first of three defibrillators to be sited around the town. “The second is to be installed at the Min y Môr hotel with the kind support of Helen and staff. “The third will go in the harbour area. “This has been achieved by the town’s support towards the First Responders that has allowed us to purchase more of these life saving units and the hard work Asa Owen has done raising the money needed to supply the cabinets. “We would also like to thank Steve Taylor (MR T) for installing these units in his own time.”
